Spelling
On Monday the students will have a pretest over the words. They
will have to write misspelled words 3 times each. Spelling work is done in
the classroom during the week and the student needs to study at home each night
of the week. There will be a final test on Fridays.
At-Home Reading
Each student is expected to read at home or outside of school at least 4
times per week. 10-15 minutes each time is fine, but more is absolutely
great! This counts as a portion of their reading grade so returning completed
and signed calendars is NECESSARY. Please make this a part of your daily
routine.
Late work
Work needs to be completed on time. All work is due the next morning
unless specified during a particular class time. If work is not completed
when it is due, the student's grade will be lowered by a letter grade. By
the second day it will be considered a ZERO. The
student needs to choose to stay in at recess, do the work during study time, or
take it home. It is the responsibility of the student, not the teacher, to
make sure the work is completed.
Assignment Books
In third grade the students receive an assignment book. Assignments
will be written on the board each morning for students to write in the books
daily. This helps the student during the day and at the end of each day to
keep track of what unfinished work needs to go home. Parents should
sign the book each night when the homework is finished and to show that the
child discussed homework with the parent.
