Homecoming 2007

Homecoming 2007 was a success at Griswold High School, both on the field and off.  Friday night capped a week of events celebrating the Homecoming theme “Wild West.”

Each day students dressed up for themed days, such as twin day and pajama day.  The freshman class took top honors in percent of class dressed up 3 out of the 5 days, with the juniors winning on Monday and the sophomore class winning on Tuesday.  In homeroom activities, the seniors won the volleyball tournament, the football pads stuffing contest and the girls and boys tug-of-war.  The juniors came out on top in the obstacle course.  Powder puff football Wednesday night was won by the junior class 26-0 over the freshmen.

Students decorated windows downtown for Homecoming week.  The freshmen decorated the old Griswold American, the sophomores decorated Hair Unlimited, the juniors decorated Rush’s Museum and the seniors did Seyler’s.  The juniors won the window-decorating contest with the sophomores finishing a close second.

Students also decorated floats for the Homecoming parade.  The seniors won this decorating contest with the juniors finishing second.  Everyone did a very good job and they all looked really nice despite the wind.  Overall the juniors tallied the most points for Homecoming activities and they were treated to a pizza party during homeroom on Thursday.

Friday was a busy day with the Homecoming parade, coronation of Homecoming royalty and the Homecoming dance.  Before Friday night’s game against St. Albert’s, Chelsea Jenkins and Cody Klindt were crowned Homecoming king and queen and Heath Larsen and Shinelle Newman were prince and princess respectively.  Everyone had a great time at the Homecoming dance, which started after the game and went until midnight.

Thanks to everyone who participated in or observed any of our Homecoming events and helped make this year a great Homecoming week.
