Iowa Test of Basic Skills is a test which measures the progress of our students. It is a standardized test that measures the student against other students in Iowa and across the nation. Assistance for At Risk students include:
Basic Reading Inventories are tests given to all students in grades 1 through 5. The classroom teacher tests each individual by having them read stories, and asking comprehension questions. The goal is to have the students independent at his or her current grade level. There are three testing periods- fall, winter, and spring. Phonemic Awareness Test (PAT) is given to kindergarten students and reported to the Department of Education. It tests children in rhyming, deletions, and blending. Students are proficient by scoring 80% or higher in each category. Curriculum Standards are the focus of our classes. These standards may be evaluated by worksheets, tests, checklists, observations, projects, and rubrics. These standards follow Iowa Core Curriculum. |
