Professional Development is the extension of learning for staff members.  The elementary staff is focused on Science Writing Heuristics.  Preschool teachers go to the Preschool Institute.  Reading comprehension is a continual focus of elementary staff members. Refining reading strategies are accomplished through collaboration and research.

Science Writing Heuristics allows students to discover science concepts through experimentation and conversation.  Each student must defend his or her theory.

Reading Comprehension strategies assist students in doing what good readers do.   The Reading Recovery teachers have monthly meetings to learn the best practice in reading. Some techniques studied are:

• Every Child Reads Strategies
• Reading Recovery strategies
• Question Answer Relationships with students asking, "Can I find this answer "In The Book" or "In My Head"?

Preschool Institute is a monthly training for teachers first semester, and then second semester the trainers will come to the district to train all preschool staff.

Every Wednesday is a One Hour Early Release
