Field Trips are a hands-on way for students to learn.  We feel these experiences are valuable and meet curricular standards.

  • Fifth Grade students go on multiple field trips.  They will go to the Joslyn Art Museum, as well as the Holland Center to hear the Omaha Symphony.  They earn money to be able to go on a science field trip to Guthrie Center, Springbrook Conservation Center.   They will participate in Cass County Conservation Day at Cold Springs Park.  The Department of Natural Resources employees will direct many interesting activities at both centers.  In May, these students will travel to Des Moines to visit the State Legislature.

  • Fourth Grade students study Iowa History and will travel back through the years at the Living History Farm in Des Moines.  They join other students in Cass County for Hitchcock Days.  They will tour the Hitchcock House in Lewis and enjoy the different activities.

  • Third grade students will travel the "Oregon Trail" at Anderson Conservation Center in Red Oak in May.  Along the way they will meet a furrier, and Native American, and other surprises.  Dressed in authentic outfits, the students will bring lunches without the modern conveniences.  They even get to go to a Trading Post. They will go to the Henry Doorley Zoo in May.

  • Third and Second Grade students have a Beach Bash every other year.  The next Beach Bash will be in March 2012.  All students enjoy an evening of multiple reading activities.

  • Second grade students will go to the Henry Doorley Zoo in May.

  • First Grade students go to the Cass County Hospital to experience the medical facility.  Many year they are able to enjoy a live musical production at the Rose theater.

  • Kindergarten students explore the towns of Atlantic or Red Oak.  The year culminates with a trip to Omaha to watch the animals at the Henry Doorley Zoo.
