Mile Club
The
Mile Club is a program in Physical Education Class in which students earn
"miles" by participating in any form of physical exercise.
While in P. E. class, the students earn miles during their fast
walking/jogging/running time. Their distance is recorded during the first
couple weeks of school and then that same amount is recorded each time the
student has physical education.
Students can also earn extra miles outside of school by doing any
"active" activity. 1 mile is given for every 1/2 hour of
physical activity. Sometimes the students think they must do only an
actual exercise in order to count for the mile club. But I tell them if
they are up, moving, and active and not sitting in front of the TV or computer,
then it will count for the mile club.
All that is required from the student is a note signed by a parent/adult
explaining what activity was done and for the amount of time/distance.
