Hello
my name is Brian Fogleman, and I will be the new physical education instructor
for the Griswold Elementary School District for the upcoming school year. I am
very excited to be a part of the district, and it is going to be a GREAT year!
I was born and raised in the small town of Manning, Iowa. Manning is located about 45 minutes straight north of Atlantic. I always joke around by saying if you blink you will miss it. It is a small, but very active and eventful community. I went to Manning Community School from kindergarten all the way through my senior year. I was active in high school participating in football and basketball for four years. I was a member of the track team for two years. I graduated in the class of 2005 and furthered my education at Buena Vista University.
Buena Vista University is located in Storm Lake, Iowa. I played basketball for four years while I was at Buena Vista. The game of basketball did so many great things for me while I was at Buena Vista. I met so many great people and traveled to so many great places. Before I went to school in the fall of 2005 I think I had only been out of the state of Iowa a handful of times and never anywhere longer than a couple hours away. While I was at BV we took trips to Las Vegas, California, Philadelphia, and New York. I guess now I know, and I can say the world is a lot different once you get out of Manning, Iowa.
While in school I decided I wanted to be a physical education teacher. After my first day of student teaching, there was no doubt in my mind that this is what I want to do. I did my student teaching at Aurelia Community School, which is located about 20 minutes west of Storm Lake, and Sioux Central, which is about 25 minutes north of Storm Lake. I gained valuable information at both locations, and I feel thankful to the staff and faculty members at those two districts. Because of them, I am very well prepared today.
