Introduction
Help! The beginning band students from last year have disappeared from the elementary music rooms.  This creates a terrible problem.  We must have a beginning band ready to perform at our Christmas program.  We need ambitious, hard working, dedicated students to take on the challenge of learning to play an instrument.  Are you up to the challenge?

The Task

You will create a video demonstrating proper embouchure of the five beginning band instruments.

You will create a chart on the care and maintenance of your assigned instrument.

You will investigate and record the cost of your assigned instrument.

You will meet with your group members to compare and contrast the maintenance and cost of each of the instruments.  You will record your results on a large chart.

You will complete an application to join beginning band.

The Process

You will be divided into teams of six members to complete your tasks.

In your teams, select the instrument you will become an expert on.  Your choices are flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and snare drum.

Print out the instrument facts sheet to record your answers on.
