Stephanie Kelley
Social Studies

Hi! My name is Stephanie Kelley and I am Griswold's high school social studies teacher. I graduated in 2007 from Central College with a Bachelor of Arts in German, Marketing Communications, and History. I also hold a Master of Art in Secondary Education from Morningside University's Sharon Walker School of Education. In 2002, our family moved from my hometown in northeastern Iowa (which is where I got the Minne-soooo-tan accent my students like to tease me about) to my husband's hometown of Atlantic, where he currently teaches Language Arts. We have six kids ranging from teen all the way down to elementary school and we have always enjoyed the outdoors.

Back in rural northeastern Iowa, we've had poultry/fowl, dairy goats, dogs, cats, and an overly abundant number of coons on our acreage! Now that we live in town, I don't have to worry about anything getting in the chicken house, but the kids still managed to talk me into parakeets, guinea pigs, and fish, along with our rescue dog, Tucker, and capricious Siamese cat, Luna.

I love to read and learn more about history. In 2007, I finished a semester abroad in Germany and Austria where I also traveled to Italy, Romania, and Bulgaria. I was able to experience and see ancient ruins right in the middle of modern-day cities. Perhaps that fueled my love of learning? And maybe it just expanded it. Either way, I love teaching social studies and I'm looking forward to another great year.
