On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Southwest Valley track meet, Ella Gade broke Griswold’s long-standing school discus record with a throw of 122’5”. The previous record of 116’4”, set by Hano Keiser in 1973, had stood for more than five decades.
Competing against 21 athletes, Ella not only broke the record — she dominated the competition, finishing nearly 7 feet ahead of second place.
Assistant Track Coach Wilson, who works closely with Griswold’s field events athletes, shared this about Ella’s accomplishment: “I can coach all day, but ultimately it is up to them to put in the work. Ella has put in the work, both in the offseason and during the season. She more than deserves to hold this title.”
