Hope Squad
Hope Squad is a nationally recognized, evidence-based peer-to-peer youth suicide prevention program that empowers students to recognize warning signs of suicide, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and connect their peers with trusted adults. The program promotes hope, belonging, and a school culture where every student feels seen, supported, and valued.
Griswold Community School District is proud to partner with the Cass County Department of Health and all neighboring school districts in the county to bring Hope Squad to our students. This initiative was made possible through the generous support of community donors and the Cass County Department of Health, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of students throughout Cass County.
At Griswold Community School District, trained Hope Squad Advisors work alongside student members to promote mental wellness throughout the school year. Hope Squad members meet regularly to learn about mental health, discuss ways to support a positive school climate, and encourage classmates to seek help when needed.
Hope Squad members are not counselors or mental health professionals. Instead, they are trained to recognize warning signs, offer support, and connect their peers with trusted adults who can provide appropriate help. Research shows that students who are struggling are often more likely to reach out to a peer first, making Hope Squad an important resource within our school community.
