Andy Everett: Teacher, Coach
Andy Everett is a dedicated educator and coach with a remarkable 41-year career in high school sports and education, including 21 years of service at Griswold High School. Mr. Everett has been a High School Head Track Coach for 36 years, a High School Head Football Coach for 35 years, and has taught high school mathematics for 41 years.
Football Legacy at Griswold before retiring from his post as head football coach, Mr. Everett established a monumental legacy for the Griswold football program:
- Career Wins: He retired with over 120 career wins.
- Playoff Success: He led four teams to the state playoffs, a current school record.
- Program Dominance: Teams under his leadership hold well over half of all existing school football records. His teams enjoyed many, many winning seasons.
Track & Field Excellence As the current Head Boys Track Coach, Mr. Everett's track and field tenure is defined by building and sustaining elite-level programs. His career highlights include:
- State Team Championships: He guided the Griswold Girls' team to three consecutive Iowa State Team Championships (2011, 2012, 2013). This achievement is tied for the third most consecutive team state titles in Iowa history.
- Elite Athlete Development: He has coached athletes to 14 State Championship titles (12 individual, 2 relay), including coaching Rebekah Topham, a 7x Individual State Champion and a State Record Holder in the 1500m.
- Consistent State Presence: His athletes across both the boys' and girls' programs have qualified for the State Meet in 31 different seasons, covering every event group.
- Winning Streaks: He led the Griswold Girls' team to an unprecedented two-year winning streak, where they won every single track meet entered.
- Recognition: Mr. Everett was honored as the 2013 Iowa Track Coach of the Year.
