Mrs. Casey's Bio

Professional Background My name is Mrs. Elsa Casey. I teach vocal music for grades 6–12 and serve as co‑director of the Griswold Middle/High School musicals. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and completed a master’s in music education at Boston University in 2016. As a member of the Iowa Choral Directors Association, I support opportunities for our students to participate in Middle School and High School Honor Choirs, the All‑State Choir clinic, and regional choir festivals such as All About That Bass and Gettin’ in Treble.

Community and Family I am married to Patrick Casey, a local farmer and Griswold graduate. We live on a family farm in the Griswold district and are proud parents of three adult daughters and three grandchildren. My role in the community extends to church music: I have served as a musician at Faith Lutheran Church and Griswold United Methodist Church, and I currently play organ at St. Peter and Paul Church in Atlantic, Iowa.

Teaching Experience and Philosophy I have enjoyed a long K–12 teaching career in the region, primarily at Griswold and Exira, with brief positions at Walnut and Harlan elementary schools. Reconnecting with former students and now working with their children has been especially rewarding. I am committed to fostering musical growth, collaboration, and confidence in every student, and to creating performance experiences that build skills and lasting memories.
